Bali has such an incredible variety of things to see and do: jungle, temples, markets, beaches, waterfalls, green rice fields, and much more.
And if you ever get bored exploring the main island of Bali, there are several smaller islands nearby, such as Nusa Penida, with its great cliffs, picturesque coasts, and excellent snorkeling opportunities.
This 10-day Bali itinerary takes you through some of the island’s unmissable highlights, starting with the cultural center of Ubud and ending with the Bukit Peninsula (also known as the Uluwatu region), as well as a few days exploring the best gems of the Island of Nusa Penida!
About this Bali itinerary
To give some information about this itinerary in Bali, my wife is Balinese and we always stay here in the middle of our other trips. This is their home and my second home, so we spent countless days exploring the Island.
Some itineraries in Bali will tell you to divide your trip and try to spend 2 days in each region of the Island. I think this is crazy, because there is not enough time to put down roots or get acquainted with a region, and the constant change of hotel reduces the visiting time you have!
Therefore, this Bali itinerary spends 5 days in Ubud (near the center of the Island), 3 days on the neighboring island of Nusa Penida, and 2 days in the Uluwatu region (south of Bali). This gives you a good way to explore the attractions of central/north Bali, the Southern Peninsula, and most of the best things to do in Penida.
For most of the sites on this itinerary in Bali, you will need a means of transport. It is easy to rent a scooter in Bali, or you can rent a private car with a driver for 10 hours of sightseeing.
Where to start
This whole Bali itinerary takes place on the Island of Bali and its smaller neighboring island, Nusa Penida.
Fly to Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), which is served by a number of budget airlines with good reviews. AirAsia often offers flights from Singapore (SIN), Bangkok (DMK) or Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Bali.
Even superior, if you are in Australia or New Zealand, you can fly directly to Bali via a number of international airports such as Adelaide, Cairns or Perth, and the cost is similar.
You can find flights to Bali on Skyscanner.
Center Of Ubud
Protected Area Of The Monkey Forest
First of all: the monkeys! Pass by the famous Ubud Monkey Forest for a fun experience and take a photo with the Balinese macaques. There are hundreds of them who live here in the jungle, and they are (for the most part) friendly with foreigners.
Ubud Market
Just down the road from the Monkey Forest, you will find the Ubud Art Market. It is full of interesting handmade Souvenirs such as wood carvings, paintings, coconut shells, rattan hats and bags and anything else you can think of. Feel free to haggle for lower prices, as some of the sellers here start a little high.
